Life Happened. And It Reminded Me Why Money Matters.

For the past two weeks, I've been away. A family funeral. Time in Haiti. Time in Florida. Time with the people I love most in this world.

I didn't plan a post. I didn't think about content. I just showed up.

And honestly? Being able to just show up – that's the whole point.

We talk a lot in this space about investing, saving, building wealth. But somewhere in the middle of grief and laughter and long family get-togethers, I was reminded of something I never want to lose sight of:

Money is not the goal. Freedom is.

Freedom to book a flight when someone you love needs you there. Freedom to step away from work without your whole life falling apart. Freedom to be present – fully, without your mind somewhere else, calculating what this time is costing you.

That's what financial security actually looks like in real life. Not a number in an account.  

A choice. An option. A yes, when it matters most.

So, if you've ever wondered why I do this work – why financial literacy feels so personal to me, this is it.

The last two weeks reminded me that financial security isn't about having the most money.

It's about having the freedom to be present for the people who matter most when life happens.

Life happened.And it reminded me exactly why this work matters.

As I return to my regular routine, I'm carrying this reminder with me:

Build the savings account. Make the investments. Create the financial plan.

Not because money is everything, but because one day someone you love may need you, and you'll want the freedom to simply say:

"I'm on my way."
