Have you checked on your money?

Happy Monday, FinanceHeirs!

It’s the last Monday of the third quarter.

Before we close the books on September, I have one question:

Have you checked on your money?

If you've ever worked with me on your investment portfolio or heard me talk about long-term investing, you know I say “set it and forget it” a lot.

Y'all been taking me literally, I see.

Unfortunately, out of sight, out of mind is not an investment strategy

If your life hasn't changed much recently then you're all good until the next quarter. But I'd bet that's not the case for most of us over the past two years. Definitely been a wild 2 years for me.

The economy has changed. And a lot has happened in our personal lives too, whether you've been affected a little or a lot.

So before Q4 gets busy with all the holidays around the corner and the football fanfare, take a few minutes to check in on your money.

And while you're at it:

Have you gotten around to opening that savings or investment account for your child or teenager that you said you would open? You know, the one you wanted to use to teach them about saving and investing?

If yes, go check on that too.

If no, there's no better time than today to get it done.

Here's how I want you to think about your investments:

Your money has a job to do for you.

And just like you would give an employee a quarterly or annual performance review, it's time to check in and see how your money is doing at its job.

  • Is it performing the way you expected?

  • Are you still properly invested?

  • Does your portfolio still match your goals?

  • Is it time to rebalance?

  • And what are you paying in fees?

If your money isn't doing the job you need it to do, it's time to figure out what needs to change.

And you don't have to do it alone. As always, I'm only an appointment or direct message away.

Your money has a job. Make sure it's doing it well.

Until next Monday,

Monia
